National Historic Garden Week in Virginia welcomes visitors to a week of statewide tours that will see the opening of 170 properties during the week of April 20-27th. This is a splendid way to celebrate the glory of springtime flowers, gardens and historic homes!
From Surry to Staunton, Roanoke to Richmond, and the Eastern Shore to Winchester, the tours and estates featured are a springtime treasure for garden and history lovers everywhere!
Northern Virginia will host a week of tours in Old Town Alexandria, Leesburg, Fairfax County-McLean, Green Spring Gardens, Oak Spring in Upperville and Winchester to round out the week. (Event ticketing information found further below.)
In McLean, the grand historic estate of Ballantrae Farm will be open to the public on Tuesday, April 23rd to view its glorious grounds and extensive gardens. As part of the tour, is Little Ballantrae, the estate’s mid-19th century farmhouse and gardens.
Ballantrae Farm is a 1923 Colonial Revival manor house featuring 6.5 acres of grounds and gardens to explore.
Tickets to the tour at Ballantrae and Little Ballantrae include entry to the nearby Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, a 95-acre park featuring natives, multiple gardens, lakes, walking trails and a children’s garden.
