As the temperatures start to climb and we get closer to July 4th, our summertime can feel very busy, moving quickly. Most families like to have downtime days where quieter activities are on the menu. Storytime, crafts and visiting farms can be fun and don't forget hats, sunscreen and hydration!
Here are 10 fun activities to do in and around Mclean that are free!
July 4th Independence Day Concert at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum - Celebrate the 4th of July with a special performance by the United States Air Force Band's Ceremonial Brass Quintet. Sunday, June 30, 5PM - Sonia de Los Santos - Praised on Billboard’s “Best Latin Kids Music” list, Sonia de Los Santo’s bilingual children’s album “¡AlegrÍa!” celebrates everyday themes that bring us joy and weaves together styles from across the Americas.
Sunday, July 7, 5PM - DuPont Brass - This “new” brass band plays an eclectic mix of original compositions and arrangements of songs by Miles Davis, JAY-Z and others.
Sunday, July 14th, 5PM - Frontiers - A Journey Tribute Band - Don’t stop believing! This stellar Journey tribute band returns by popular demand.

Frying Pan Farm Park - Kidwell Farm, Herndon, Va - Open Dawn till Dusk. 2709 West Ox Road, Herndon - Frying Pan preserves and interprets farm life of the 1920s to 1950s. A very popular park in Fairfax County! Meet draft horses, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, sheep, goats, cows and pigs at Frying Pan Farm Park's working farm of the 1930s. Take a wagon ride and watch the farm hands at work.
