Virginia is home to many top-rated and highly esteemed colleges and universities. The summer is a time when rising 11th and 12th graders go out to visit and explore different schools to consider attendance after they graduate.
Making the decision between schools and trying to find which college or university will be the best fit for a student can be difficult. Below are some of the top universities and colleges in Virginia along with details about admissions and visiting days to help make exploring your options easier.
University of Virginia
UVA was founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819, and is still a highly regarded top 3 college in 2023. The school is located in Charlottesville, Virginia. William and Mary

Virginia Tech
VT is located in Blacksburg, Virginia and is home to over 37K students. Located in rural Virginia, surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains, Tech is a gorgeous car drive and Lane Stadium screams “Hokies” when autumn rings! James Madison University
