Remembering Sue Huckaby After 10 Years

September 5, 2018

Suzanna Woodard Huckaby founded the HBC Group in 1977 and was a leader in the Northern Virginia real estate market for decades.  We pay tribute to this iconic business woman and beloved friend who has been gone 10 years, September 9th, 2008.

Sue made an enormous impact on the McLean community and especially to those who knew her personally.  She was caring and compassionate and was known by clients, friends and colleagues as "a class act."   As one of the first agents in the '90s to show photos of property listings online, Sue was a pioneer and visionary in the real estate business. Since 2000, she consistently ranked as one of the top agents in America.  She was an incredibly strong, kind and professional woman, and an absolute driver in the business.

Sue met Karen Briscoe at Trinity United Methodist Church in McLean.  In 2006, Karen became partners with Sue who felt their business partnership was "made in heaven."  After Sue passed, Lizzy Conroy, also a friend of Karen and Sue from church, joined Karen in 2009 to form the HBC Group to carry on the legacy of their legendary founder.  In Sue's memory, today we strive to improve and impact the lives of others.

Having just celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2017, we believe the HBC Group is an indelible member of the community and a trusted real estate adviser in the Northern Virginia real estate market.  We had the pleasure of sharing our special anniversary milestone last year with Jerry Huckaby, Sue's former husband and his lovely wife, Marie Hammon Huckaby as well as with past clients and friends.

We thank Sue every day for her immeasurable impact and we are so grateful to carry on in her memory.  Sue is the "H" in our HBC Group.  Heaven or Huckaby?  We say both!
